Story: Fact-based story of the only US navy officer ever court-martialed on the charge of adultery.
This may well be Dave Grusin's briefest score, consisting of little more than a dozen cues, all but one quite short.
There is a main theme, but it is not used over opening titles, and played in full in only one scene. Concentrating on the incorruptibility of Chaplain Jensen, it runs under a conversation with his wife, while they await the verdict. The idealistic theme is used here to underscore his words about fears, hopes and doubts.
The rest of the music, largely electronic based, is used for play ins and outs in addition to some montage sequences involving written and oral testimony of the figures concerned.
